REMINDER FOR YOU: This is posted July 2016, Colourpop newest packaging releases may not be updated here. I'll just update this once I already got the new release. Hope you read the whole post first before sending me blast emails and comments if you got the fake colourpop or not, I'm sorry but will no longer respond to those kinds of emails.
Makeup lovers would be obsessed with these $6 USD Ultra Matte Lips from Colourpop. But did you also know that there's also fake scattered in the market? Fake makeup could be very dangerous to anyone. I took a risk this time to show you guys on how you can spot the fake Colourpop Ultra Matte.
Price bought in the Philippines:
- Genuine Colourpop Ultra Matte Php 400 each ($8.5 USD) - OUIJI
- Fake Colourpop Ultra Matte - Divisoria Php 65 each ($1.38 USD) - ECHO PARK & SOLOW
Sticker shades of Genuine are usually black and white, same font and font size are almost similar For comparison below, I decided to use ECHO PARK and OUJI. Solow's shade was so different with the real thing.
If you're not yet familiar with ECHO PARK, it should be ULTRA SATIN, the bottom color of the box should be Lime Yellow. But as you can see on the photo it shows in Red button and still with a box print of Ultra Matte Lip.
Box Packaging: Looks similar at first but it's really different when light hits the box. Solow which is on the middle shoes a matte effect for the embossed design while Echo Park copies the OUIJI well enough.
Made with ❤ in the USA - Genuine looks much brighter than fake.
Ingredients - Sorry for the blurred photo, font shows much darker than the fake ones.
Tube Details - check letter spacing and readability
Bottom Tube Sticker: The confusing part for the sticker. Echo park here looks more authentic than Genuine when I checked other reviews about Ultra Matte Lips.
Tube Size - Genuine is longer than Fake - will take measurements soon (to be updated)
Easiest way to check Genuine Tube would be this white part inside of OUIJI's bottom part - not sure how you call this thing (let me know if you're familiar so I can update this)

Tube Wand filter of Genuine is clear, Fake looks more translucent. Also, check how the silver lining looks, quite fading with lots of scratches even when its still brand new.
Swatch of Colourpop Ultra Matte in Ouji (Genuine) and Colourpop Ultra Matte( but should be SATIN) in ECHO PARK
Colors are both vibrant and both true to its packaging. But it you can see the real Echo Park, It's really got the right shade correctly BUT it should be SATIN and not MATTE

DeleteThe authentic fades easily than the fake when I'm using my nails to rub it off.
easiest way to see is yung bottom part ng tube, yung may white sa loob yung authentic.
Deletemine is shorter and kinda smells like medience and when i put it on my lips get stuck together :( please reply asap if its fake!

ReplyDeleteI bought 6 colourpop all straight from Colourpop during the free shipping primo. However the white thing on the bottom of the bottle is only cleary shown in Tulle and Frick n Frack. The rest (Avenue, Bumble, Lyin King, Viper) only shows a circle, no white thing. But still all are purchased at the same time. I do not know why they differ.

DeleteMy colourpop ultramatte lax seemed legit - its smell, its tube and box's appearance, the applicator and all, except for one thing, it had a printed black label of its name on the box's lid instead of a sticker one. Is it not authentic? Ive read so many blogs abt fake vs real colourpop but i havent seen someone mentioned abt one having printed label.
